Vertac Height Services were engaged to undertake remediation works to the tower clock face window frames to address weather-tightness issues and to conduct an inspection of the outer edge of the window frames.

Approach: The remediation work consisted of removing and reinstating the sealant joints, as well as corrosion treatment to the surface of the frame. Given the age of the building, samples of the sealant, glazing putty and bedding compound were sent for asbestos testing before work commenced, returning negative results. During the work, a large crack in a section of concrete was identified as a potential health and safety hazard. At the request of the building manager, the area was stabilised using crack injection and helical stainless-steel ties.
